A perfect Friday evening

This afternoon we walked to the beach and spent the evening there playing, having a couple cocktails from the beach bar and watching the sunset. The weather was perfect and we had a great evening. Here are some pics....

Holy S*&%!!!!!

Today I walked out my front door and was greeted by a terrifying, 3 foot long, black snake slithering away in my driveway!!! I screamed my ass off and ran inside! I haven't been out the front door since. I don't plan on doing so without an escort for a very long time. I am really upset about this, because mail time is my favorite time of day.  Lizards I can deal with, but SNAKES!!!! My heart rate is still racing. I will no longer be going outside alone, getting up in the middle of the night, cooking under furniture, going to my laundrey room alone, or anything of that nature. YIKES!!!!!

p.s. Mike was laughing hysterically and went outside to try and find the snake because he thinks they are cool...whatever.

A week of firsts

Last Thursday L started her new ballet/tap class. She had a blast. There were a couple girls there that are also in her class at school so it is nice for her and really shows what a small town we live in now!

LEAPIN LIZARDS!!!!

So, lizards are about as common here as ants (which are taking over my bathroom, but that is another story)!! At first I was completely freaked out and scared of them. I've gotten used to their presence. However, not in my house. Luckily, L is not afraid of them at all, so she is in charge of the catch and release of the lizards found indoors.

We rented a boat for the day this weekend. It was a blast! We discovered an island where people beach their boats and hang out, swim, and drink. It was a lot of fun, but not sure it is a place we will be going every weekend. I would compare it to a slightly classier, tamer version of Canal Days. We heard rumors of a boat with a stripper poll on it, but were not lucky enough to see it. Mike nicknamed the spot the Redneck Riviera. Surely a spot to take our friends when they visit.

I was a little unsure of taking the kids on a boat. S is not exactly laid back. He was completely pissed when it came time to wear his life vest.
But, once her got ahold of some food, he calmed down a bit. He made sure to periodically remind me that he was NOT happy about the situation!

Once we got to the island, the kids had a blast swimming and playing in the sand. They both fell asleep on the boat ride home and it was a successful day topped off by red wine and steaks on the grill.
"Please help me, Sis!"

Always a happy girl!

Playing in the sand...

Trying to walk in the sand

S started walking small distances this weekend. He can take about 5-10 steps before falling. Unfortunately I can't get it on camera! I'll work on that!

And lastly, today was L's first day at the Island Montessori Academy. She loved it! At first she came home and told us that all the kids were mean and told her she will not have any friends and that they were hitting her. Then she told us she was just kidding and that she had a great day, haha. The wonderful mom that I am forgot to take 1st day of school pics! In my defense, she has to be there at 7:45, we didn't get out of bad until after 7 and it was pouring rain out! I'll take 2nd day of school pics instead:)

Until next time.......missing all of my Delaware peeps!!!!

Welcome to my attempt to blog!

So I have decided to start a blog. We'll see how this goes. My thoughts are that instead of boring all my Facebook friends with constant updates and photos, I will TRY to update often via this blog. Those who want to subscribe can keep up with us through here.

So, we will have been here 2 weeks tomorrow! I can't believe it! It seems like we talked about moving for so long and I never really thought the day would come. I honestly thought I could put Mike off a couple years at a time, and just maybe he would forget about it. No such luck. BUT, thankfully we LOVE it here! The weather is gorgeous, the people are so welcoming and friendly and we love our house too! A little small, but perfect for now. I will post pictures of the house once it is all set up.

The water play area at Mackle Park. Sooo fun and I can't wait to take Ava there!!!

Collecting Sea shells. It is amazing the things we have found so far!

As long as he is eating, he is happy!

Look at that figure!

Dinner with Aunt Jonnie

One of the many beautiful sunsets off the Gulf

My Mom stayed a little over a week with us, and I was completely spoiled!! Thank God she rode with the kids and I down here. She kept me from throwing Lola from the car several times! She cooked, cleaned, grocery shopped, got up with the baby. I did NOT want her to leave! We were so thankful to have her here, and I really don't know what I would have done without her. But then she left......

Back to reality for us. Last night I cooked my first home cooked meal in our new house (butternut squash ravioli, thank you very much Marta!) and Lola started her new dance school today. Lola seems to be more hyper in Florida (I didn't think it was possible) and while I do want to cut her vocal cords on occasion, she is having a blast and it is so fun to watch her!  We are starting to get into our routine and it feels good to get back to normal. Although, living in paradise is definitely not the normal we are used to!! But, I think we can get used to this!
